Edinburgh’s experience and expertise in instrumentation for fluorescence spectroscopy and laser flash photolysis spectroscopy is second to none, spanning decades with over 1000 systems installed in universities and leading research laboratories worldwide.
The FLS1000 Spectrometer sets the standard in both steady state and time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy for both fundamental research and routine laboratory applications.
The system is a modular fluorescence and phosphorescence spectrometer for measuring spectra from the ultraviolet to the mid-infrared spectral range (up to 5,500 nm), and lifetimes spanning from picoseconds to seconds. All of this can be achieved through various upgrade routes, either at the time of order or in the future.
Whether you are studying photophysics, photochemistry, biophysics, biochemistry, material or life sciences, the FLS1000 will enable you to reliably and accurately measure luminescence spectra and kinetics using state-of-the-art sources, detectors, acquisition techniques, quality optics and precision mechanics. The large sample chamber will house practically any type of sample accessory.
High sensitivity is a prerequisite for measurements of low sample concentrations, small sample volumes or low sample quantum yields. The instrument’s guaranteed sensitivity of >30,000:1 (optional >35,000:1) for the standard water Raman measurement using the SQRT method is unmatched in the industry.

Transient Absorption Spectrometer
The LP980 spectrometer sets the standard for technical performance required in a premier research instrument, offering unsurpassed measurement capabilties across a broad range of chemical, physical and biological applications.
Kinetic (K) and Spectral (S) Mode
At the heart of the LP980 is a fully integrated and sophisticated transient absorption spectrometer. It uses the pump-probe technique for measuring transient kinetics and sepctra. In kinetic mode (K) a single point detector is used to measure the transient kinetics at a single wavelength (spectra can be built up by automated scanning over a wavelength range and slicing the data). In spectral mode (S) a gated intensified CCD is used to capture the whole spectrum in the presence and absence of the pump laser pulse, meaning the whole spectrum can be generated after one laser pulse. The LP980 spectrometer has a dual sample chamber that enables users to reliably and accurately measure transient chemical and biological species up to 2.55 µm using the pump-probe technique AND laser-induced fluorescence lifetimes down to nanosecond time ranges.
Transverse sample excitation geometry comes as standard. Thin-film, diffuse reflection, fluorescence and phosphorescence lifetime measurement accessories are available as options.
